In the words of Steely Dan, Col Harrington is ‘reeling in the years and stowing away the time’. He has survived a decades long career in all forms of construction in multiple roles latterly in occupational safety. With wide ranging interests, he travels extensively, reads avidly and according to his wife of 40 plus years talks too much. Like 90% plus of writers, he has yet to earn a living wage from writing but does if for the compulsion of it like every other scribe. For his sins, he has also been a member of the Australian Labor party for over 30 years where he has also received the award as the ‘Most Annoying Rank and File Member’ (unopposed) several years running.
